Picture Day

so every now and then Max has no scrapes, or bruises or red marks all over him and so I can take him to get his picture taken. Here he is all dressed up before we go to Picture People for the shoot.

Philip and I bought this outfit in Munich when we went to Germany in 2005. We wanted to celebrate Max's heritage.

Thanksgiving part II

So here is the star of Thanksgiving Dinners #1 and #2. -Mama Scherer. We not only have a delicious meal on Thursday, but a completely new one again on Friday - Turkey on Thursday and ham on Friday. With plenty of leftovers for snacking inbetween. I helped by putting the silverware on the table and that's it, I didn't even get dish duty. Ingrid helped make the food as well, but otherwise, Mama Scherer does it all by herself. She's just amazing! We didn't get a head on picture of Mom, becuase well, she was just so busy! We appreciate all her time and energy put into the exciting weekend.

Here is the set up always beautiful and warm.

Max and Cousin Andrew in the playroom.

All the cousins there: Ahmari, Andrew, Ashley, Tommy, Max and Julianna.
This is Max's new face he makes when he says his new word, "NO". Isn't it handsome. Oh boy! Which he started saying Thanksgiving weekend.

This is Max and Andrew having dinner together. Max and Andrew played very well together. It's fun to have cousins your age.

Thanksgiving

So while I was packing for our Thanksgiving weekend I come out to the living room and this is what Max is doing: Standing on his put-put with a wire hanger in his hand. Maybe Max is going to grow up to be a dare devil. Who knows. He definately has a NO FEAR gene.

Family Dinner.

2nd Family Dinner.
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with the Scherer Families and the Roberts Family. What a fun time of year to get together. We had wonderful weather and wonderful memories to remember forever.

Sunday go to meetin'

I finally bought Max a real Sunday outfit. Amazingly enough it is now cold enough to wear long sleeves. Sometimes Max looks so much like his Uncle Russell that it's a little freaky.

the Big Boy Chair

So we bought Max this Lazy-Z Boy Chair for the family room. Now he sits in it all the time. He couldn't quite get up into the couch, so now he can sit all by himself.

Magic Kingdom

We went to DisneyWorld this past week. It was so much fun, but you can tell the Holidays are coming because it's getting more and more crowded. We watched the new Dreams Come True Parade and it was alot of fun. Max got to see his favorite pal, Eyeore. Max went for his ride on the carousle and held onto the horse like a pro. It was really cute!

Making up for lost time

So I have posted several posts concerning past events, mostly for Grandma Lake to see pictures of Max. So even though the dates may be old, the info is new. I hope you enjoy!

We're back...

After what seemed like the longest three months of our lives we have made it to November!
This is going to be an exciting rest of the year. Philip and I are so grateful that we made it through these very trying past couple of months. We are very grateful to our families for their love and support in our lives.
It is exciting to see the hand of the Lord in your life when you need it the most. We have been in Gainesville without family now for almost 5 months and yet it seems like we are never alone! It's wonderful, I'll give you the run down. We have had tons of visitors: Kurt, Allison + 1, Isabella, Momma Scherer , Ahmari, Mike, Ingrid, Julianna, Ashley, Tommy, Andrew, Kurt again, Momma Scherer, and Ahmari again, Dad Scherer, Mom Lake, Michelle and Jon. We saw Russell and Erin in California and Jacob at one point as well. We love having time to see our family. We feel so loved. We appreciate the many hours that you spent in the car and the airplane just to come see us. We are also glad that you could visit when there are big football games happening, but we know that we were the real reason for your visit to Gainesville. If anyone else wants to come visit Hotel is Scherer is up and operating, just stop by we'd love to see you!

Ode to Philip

So, Philip is now in his third year of Medical School. I officially decided that to become a Physician, one truly has to be motivated by a sincere desire to 1) study ALL the time, and 2) help others at a personal sacrifice. I can't even describe how difficult these years of school have been for me and I haven't even been the one going to school! It has been even more challenging for Philip who has not only been going to school, but succeeding and surpassing his peers with excellence and professionalism, all the while having a wife and a baby. Philip this past summer studied for 6 weeks straight for his board exams and two weeks before the exam was in a very terrible accident, that he is still in physical therapy for. Yet, he put his physical pain aside and he was still able to slam the test out of the park with a fantastic score.
So whilie being a father, husband, Home teacher, ward pianist, choristor, violinist, substitute in nursury, student, gardner, and occasionally chef and maid, never having time for himself, he still manages to get up every morning with a smile on his face. So, whilie studying and working hard Philip also is learning patience and humility with grace. Max and I are so blessed to have such a great leader in our home who is not afraid to fight the fight and persevere through difficult times.
So now we know where Max inherited his Kryptonic genes from: His Superman Father.

Clothes optional - diaper a must

So, I've noticed lately that Max never wears clothes...So I'm wondering why do I spend so much money on clothes if he never wears them? The answer: I have no idea.

Don't ask me how he got up there, he is a climber and sticks his feet anywhere to get everywhere he wants.
Who knew the fridge could be so entertaining? One day I actually opened the fridge and Buzz Light year was sitting behind the ketchup.
His cousins come to play and still- no clothes.
I really do put clothes on my son. He wears them, mostly for warmth, I just never get any pictures with him in them!

Books, Books, Books

So, I've read the Twilight series. It was fun. It was fun to talk about with friends. You know, then you move on, find another good book to read (we'll get back to this comment in a second). Well, then I heard they were making a movie and I wasn't totally convinced this was such a wise idea. How do you make this book into a decent movie? I don't know. THEN, I saw a trailer of the movie the other day, and now I'm hooked. So, that is why I have now added the widget to the blog, even though Philip will now make endless fun of me. But that's ok. So for all those of you who haven't seen the trailer yet, I highly recommend it. You can see it at Twilightthemovie.com.

Ok, back to my original comment; the next good book to read. I read ALOT. I read at least two books a week at the expense of my sleep most times, and I have to recommend to the world my favorite books right now. In this order: ERAGON, ELDEST, BRISNGR. They are the first three books in the Inheritance Cycle. There is a 4th book coming out. You have to read these books! Now I didn't read Lord of the Rings, although I saw the movies. I don't read blood and gore, I prefer love stories to war heroes. But these books are so amazing. It took me two weeks to read the 3rd one because it is so detailed and complicated. You will just love these books. Eragon is Harry Potter meets Frodo and Edward Cullen with many qualtites like Moroni. It is awesome! So for those of you waiting around for someone to suggest a good book, there you go!

The importance of Eyeore

Max has a best friend: Eyeore. We actually have invested in multiple Eyeore's now so that we can wash them. Max sleeps with Eyeore in his arms every night. Here is what it looks like:

pre-nap time.

This is us putting Max to sleep in the car...must have Eyeore or it won't work.

Here is a small, and I emphasize the small, portion of Max's stuffed animal collection. He gets one every where we go becuase the minute he sees one he starts screeeeeaaaaaming. When we take him to the store that's what he wants, a stuffed animal. Never a toy, or a car or even candy, just something soft. I highly recommend the Webkinz brand, they wash well, haha.

Funny story: in the picture above this was the first time Max wore these Pajamas. I put him and Eyeore in the car for our nightly go-to-sleep-car-ride. As we're driving I turn back to look at Max, because he's making this slapping noise instead of going to sleep, and it was so funny! Max was slapping his leg becuase in the dark night I realized that his Pajamas are Glow-in-the-Dark and he was tring to play with the light on his clothes. It was hilarious! When I go to check on him when he's sleeping, you see all the outlines of the animals from the Glow in the Dark. It's so funny.

Surprise Visit

Michelle and Jon made a surprise visit to Gainesville! We loved it! They drove up from the Miami area where they came in for a Wedding. It was a quick visit, but we were so excited that they could come. I took them on a tour of Gainesville and then we watched the election. I am proud to say that this time Florida didn't have to do any recounts...thank you very much. Anyways, we really enjoy their company, but we would like to request that they bring Cafe Rio with them the next time they come. We're going crazy out here without the pork salad.

Halloween

SUPERMAN!

This is the shy stance. "Don't look at me".

It's a birrrr. My mom taught Max to say 'bird' so now everything he points at is Birrrr. It's so funny. He saw a helicopter flying to the hospital the other day and he started screaming, Birrr, Birr!

We went to the ward Halloween party it was fun, but very cold. Can you guess who we were? Yes, Max was Superman again, I say stick with what works. He's our super hero, anyone know where I can get a piece of Kryptonite? We literally have to drive Max around every night in the car to get him to go to sleep. He has to be held down to actually get him to stop moving. we are thankful for his inquisitive and hyper nature, but sometimes sleep is good too.

Site Under Construction

We're Under Construction...Come Back Soon for Updates....

Walt Disney World

Max finally got to go to Disney world! We had been waiting until he could walk and enjoy the the park, and the day finally came. We have been several times now and it had been a new experience at the parks with a little boy! It's like going to Disney for the first time again.
He actually prefers to play in the dirt by the trees or the trash cans, but once he saw the exciting colors and sounds at the park he opened right up and loved it! Here are some pictures of our adventures and as soon as I can find the cord to my camera I will add more.
