White Coat Ceremony
May 18, 2008
The University of Florida puts on a White Coat Ceremony every year for the students who have completed their second year of Medical School. It's a recognition for the transition from basic science to clinical science. Philip's next two years are considered clinical science as he will be on rounds in the hospital working with patients and observing the Attending physician everyday.
Philip was a special student who was able to receive his white coat from his father, Dr. George Scherer, and his brother Dr. Kurt Scherer, who are both Alumni of the college of Medicine at the University of Florida.
Here they are leaving the stage. Philip's brother Kurt graduated from Medical School the day before and because he was the student Hypocratic Award winner, along with multiple other awards, they allowed him and his father to participate in the White Coat Ceremony for Philip.
Philip's proud parents. We are very grateful to them for all their guidance and help during these busy years. They have always been there for us. Thankfully, their experience through medical school has been a great resource and motivating influence in our lives.
Mom and Dad Lake, Philip and me. My parents flew in from California to support Philip and his achievement. We're also grateful to them for their support and love.
We feel very blessed to have so much family support and influence in our lives. We are excited for the next two years and the excitement they will bring! Philip, we are all so proud of all that you have accomplished and will continue to accomplish.
